Disaster relief operations that helped saved lakhs of lives

Nature, a magnificent beauty that leaves us in the awe of the charm it bestows. Basking in the glory of beautiful forests, waterfalls, incredible canyons, lakes, colorful flowers, and artful ice structures is where one can find many people attracted. The other side of Nature is very ugly side. This side is a destructive force that can create havoc in life forms by moving mountains, shaking the landscapes, and making waters move on land and settlements.

Disasters create a haphazard in human and animal life

A Natural disaster is an unforeseen occurrence of an event that creates harm to all life forms. Earthquakes, tsunamis, cyclones, floods, etc. are the ugliest sides of nature when humans have no control over destruction. Growing industrialization and unjustified exploitation of natural resources have exaggerated the amount of damage in previous decades.
Wherever a natural or man-made disaster occurs, there is non-reversible damage to plant and animal life. In a short span of time, hundreds of families get destroyed. There is no end to the sufferings of people as well as animals when a disaster strikes their settled lives.

A team of Rescuers is always at the forefront.

There is always the need for individuals to save the ones whose lives are in danger in disaster prone areas. The injured people need someone to heal and console them. Providing relief in such times is a noble act of humanity.
Dera Sacha Sauda is an organization of selfless and fearless volunteers. Under the pious guidance of Saint Dr. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insan who is th chief of Dera Sacha Sauda, a team was constituted as a specialized disaster relief and welfare team. Since its foundation, it has been on the forefront at any time of unfortunate calamities that calls for humanitarian needs. Always, at the time of the disaster, the force has acted as a guardian angel for the victims.
Major relief operations by the team
Numbering nearly 100,000, this unique force is included with qualified engineers, experienced Doctors, paramedics, trained rescuers, masons, electricians, reconstruction workers, and people of various trades needed in humanitarian aid missions. Annual training is also conducted for members of this welfare team for disaster management.

Volunteers turned life-saving angels in Giant Tsunami

The whole of South Asia was shaken by a disastrous Tsunami on Dec 26, 2004. The disaster inflicted heavy loss of life and property. Under instructions of Guruji, teams of trained volunteers were sent to the tsunami struck areas. The volunteers did whatever they could do to help people rebuild their lives. While the aftershocks were still frequent in some areas, it was a challenge to distribute aid materials while traversing the restless sea using small boats. A little carelessness was equal to death. But the fearlessness and extreme devotedness made their mission successful. The team stayed there for 55 days on the island where only some jawans of the Indian army were there.

The Giant Tsunami and The Aftermath

The grit of volunteers made the river to turn its route.

Dera Sacha Sauda has provided immediate relief whenever floods struck areas of Haryana and Punjab. When areas of Firozabad-Sirsa experienced massive floods due to disturbance in Ghaggar River then the team stood there like a safety wall. They created a D-typed dam of 500 -550 meters and receded the water. Volunteers arranged tractors, trolleys, JCB as well as meals for them. When the breach in Tangri River affected the Ambala city and nearby villages then these volunteers engaged themselves in saving others’ lives at the risk of their own. They aided the victims in coming out of the flood and rehabilitate them at safe places. Also, They arranged medicines for the needy ones and fodder for the animals.

Relief operations at times of Earthquake.

The memory of the terrible earthquake that struck Gujarat on January 26, 2000, is vividly etched in the minds of the Indians. Saint Dr. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan stepped ahead with his team of volunteers to console and heal, and reassure the lives of the survivors. Thus a scientific survey was done followed by a systematic aid operation. The ration depots were set up, thousands of tents were erected and over one lakh blankets were distributed in more than 40 villages. Dera Sacha Sauda adopted 42 villages in Rapar tehsil where people were earlier housed in tents. Earthquake-prone buildings were built. Villages like Sahi Kalyan Nagar and Partapgarh were recreated from the scratch.

Revered Guruji went door to door inquiring well-being of the victims. Dera Sacha Sauda volunteers reconstructed the villages, distributed relief materials and provided treatment to the injured.

The saviors in landslides and floods.

In 2014, Landslides and floods have devastated hundreds of villages in the capital Srinagar, and districts of Kulgam and Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir.
Dera’s mobile hospital called ‘Farishta’ that can aid as an ICU, Operation theatre, and an obstetric unit also provided its services in the affected regions. Volunteers donated 57 units of blood to aid the victims. A specialized team of doctors and paramedic staff was also sent to the areas. The packaging of rations was also distributed. By supporting Army Jawans, volunteers did everything possible under the guidance of Guruji.

Providing Relief In Guptkashi, Kedarnath

This Relief Team under guidance of Guruji Assembled at Guptkashi Traversing Impassable and difficult Routes. The grace of Guruji Simplified the terrific routes and their courage made 33 trucks loaded with relief materials reach the site. The volunteers distributed the relief items in Kedarnath, Devali, Banigram, Fegu, Ravari, Barmari, Ghanasu, Sitapur , Tilwara, Lamgori Chandarpuri, Behri, Vijaynagar, Asatmuni, Gourikund, Sidhsodh, Jakholi, Kirora, Taat, Kurcholla, and 35 other villages of District Rudraprayag.

The team carried a project of rehabilitation after Massive Cyclones.

In 1999, many areas in the state of Orissa were hit by a massive cyclone. During that calamity, the Revered Saint Dr. MSG sent 26,000 quintals of food and other relief material to Bhuvaneshwar from Sirsa through a special train. Hundreds of Dera volunteers traveled to Orissa with the rations and distributed door-to-door and ensured that every person in need had adequate food and necessary relief material.

Guardian Angels for the people stuck in droughts.

The Dera volunteers also provided villages with 1,00000 quintals of animal fodder, 30,000 quintals of wheat, about 500 quintals of corn seeds, and 100 trucks filled with clothes and other necessities inspired by His Holiness Saint Dr. MSG.

The fire was extinguished in the city of Darjeeling.

In April 2012 , volunteers of Dera Sacha Sauda prevented the burning of City Of Darjeeling when ghastly fire started engulfing some shops and hotels. Their valiant quick actions saved the entire city from massive destruction. The fire started with the cylinder blast and could result into large damage . The indefatigable warriors had fought the blaze since 2 am in the morning till the forenoon to save the city.
