Sai Shah Mastana Ji Maharaj was born when there was no humanity left in people and they had forgotten God’s existence, HE incarnated and connected people with the name of Almighty. HE was born on the day of Kartik Purnima (Full moon Day) in 1891 in village Kotra, Kalat (Balochistan) to respected father Shri Pillamal Ji and mother Mata Tulsa Bai Ji. HE revived the dying humanity in people and taught them the true values and purpose of life.

How Sai Ji got the pious name ‘Shah Mastana Ji’?

His holiness’s earlier name was Khema Mal Ji, which was later on changed by Baba Sawan Singh Shah Ji as ‘Maston Ka Mastana- Shah Mastana Ji’.
Mastana ji was curious from HIS childhood age to know the true purpose of life and to meet the Almighty, for which HE left HIS home at the age of 14 years in the search of a true guru who could guide him to the way of greeting with God. In this journey to find God, HE met many Saints and guides but no one could satiate HIS search except for revered Baba Sawan Singh Ji whom HE found in Dera Beas, Punjab. Shah Mastana Ji Maharaj found a true guru in Baba Sawan Singh Ji. HE showed utmost devotion and faith for Baba Ji. His holiness started dancing whenever Baba Sawan Singh Ji arrived, from which Baba Ji bestowed Him with the name ‘Shah Mastana Ji’. Afterwards his holiness Shah Mastana Ji Maharaj set out for the journey to connect other people with almighty’s name and humanity.

We all must have heard about Dera Sacha Sauda, the hub of spirituality and humanity where everyone is welcomed regardless of their cast, religion, language or race. The foundation of this unique organisation was laid by revered Sai Mastana Ji Maharaj on 29th April, 1948. HE removed the darkness of ignorance prevalent among people and enlightened them with true light of knowledge. HE shunned all the superstitions which was there in the form of castes, religions, race, creed etc. and taught them the that GOD is one, only names are different in all religions that is God, Allah, Waheguru, Ram, Om, etc.

Sai Mastana Ji Maharaj used to chant, “Dhan Dhan Sawan Shah Sai Tera Hi Aasra”, “Dhan Dhan Mere Makhan Malaayi Tera Hi Aaasra”. Thus, people complained about this slogan to Baba Sawan Shah Ji, but thou really got impressed from devotion and love of Mastana Ji Maharaj and accepted the slogan, ‘Dhan Dhan Satguru Tera Hi Aasra’, which is today the divine slogan of Dera Sacha Sauda. Mastana Ji said that, “this slogan contains divine powers and is itself descended from Satlok- Anami”

Sai Sawan Shah Ji asked Sai Mastana Ji to connect other people with God’s name. Hence, Shah Mastana Ji Maharaj started teaching people the precious Method of Meditation through which people started feeling the divine power and felt closer to God. Festivals have had a great impact on human civilisation since time immemorial. Festivals rejuvinate us and add freshness to our lives. That is why different cultures have different festivals during different times of the year.

They hold a scientific and moral value as well, for instance during Ganesh chaturthi earlier the sculpture of lord Ganesha were made with good quality clay or flour which when submerged in the water, used to filter and purify it and make it suitable for human use.

Triumph of Good over evil

-Deepawali symbolises the victory of good over evil and knowledge over ignorance but it is a matter of grief that nowadays people instead of walking on the Shri Ram’s preachings, they are involved in gambling, drinking, intaking intoxicants in order to celebrate a festival. It is a topic that needs to be pondered upon. Even during Dussehra , it is observed that after RavanDehan, people consume drugs and do gambling for enjoyment. Isn’t today’s society losing its authenticity and ethnicity!
Rather one must kill the Ravan inside them and let the Rama inside them take the charge of their further life.

The truth in bursting crackers

• Earlier people used firecrackers in order to portray their happiness , but it used to create no or little pollution because population back then was less and trees ( the lungs of the mother Earth) were in abundance, but now the population has increased by several folds and so has the pollution increased. It’s not just about Deepawali, we must take proper initiatives to control the pollution caused due to factories and various industries. Pollution must not be a matter of concern only during Deepawali rather it should be a topic of attention throughout the year.

• Lighting A Diya for health and wellness

• Deepawali comes during the time when temperature is low and humidity is high. This increases the chances of mosquito breeding and also the chances of fatal ailments like dengue, malaria and chikungunya. In the ancient times, when odomos, mortien, all outs didn’t exist. Lighting Clay lamps with a mixture of 4 types of oils including coconut oil, mahua oil, castor oil, neem oil and ghee proved to be very effective against these disease causing agents.

Reunite with loved ones

• Deepawali commemorates the return of Lord Ram to Ayodhya and the reunion of Lord Rama with Bharat, his loved brother. But it is observed that even on Deepawali, people fight with each other, engage themselves in conflicts and even after drinking hurt each other physically. Are we following the preaching of this festival! The answer is No. We must celebrate this festival with love , we must forgive each other, we must reunite with our loved ones but we as humans are doing the exact opposite!
  This is a true disrespect to our culture.
  Religions donot preach gambling, drinking, intoxication, fighting and killing for our own selfishness but human nowadays considers religions to be a joke and it keeps modifying it according to his own selfish desires but religions are meant for us to modify and improve ourselves according to their preachings and are not meant to be modified for our convinience.

On this Diwali, let us pay gratitude to our culture and religions by understanding the true worth of festivals and release pessimistic energy that resides inside us and allow the optimistic energy to take the charge.

The word Deepawali literally means –
Deep + Awali . The word Deep is earthen lamps/ diyas and Awali means rows. Diwali signifies the day when earthen lamps were lit in rows to welcome the arrival of Sri Ram from 14 year exile and defeating Ravana and his evils. Since that day, we have been celebrating that historical day as “Diwali” or “Dipawali”. It’s not a festival for the Hindus alone. It’s a festival of everyone who celebrates victory of goodness over evils. Almost everyone in India and the Indians living in foreign countries lit earthen lamps and decorate their houses to welcome the pious day of Diwali. They also share and distribute sweets and burst crackers. Many do “Lakshmi Poojan” (Prayer to Goddess Lakshmi) for bringing prosperity in their homes. People clean every corner of their house because they believe that Goddess Lakshmi comes in their house on Diwali to bless them with wealth and prosperity. One another interesting fact about Diwali is that it comes on ‘Amavasaya” (no moon day) when moon is not visible, but this historical day is still able to lighten lives even today because this is the symbol of victory of goodness, meaning that light has power to grow even in dark. If it seems like there is no light, there is still light because our soul is the part of the light house. We just need to boost its power with regular meditation.

Let’s light real lights this Diwali

Diwali is the festival of lights as all call it. We can illuminate darkness using Earthen Lamps and decorative lights, but what about the darkness that’s inside us? We should also consider uprooting it using Diwali as an opportunity. The best ways to illuminate our inside are shunning bad habits, chanting God’s name daily and helping the needy to enlighten their lives. Blood donation, Cleanliness Drives, Tree Plantation drives etc. are also the best ways to celebrate Diwali. Revered Saint, Saint Dr. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan suggests such way of Diwali celebration. Why are the Earthen Lamps Lit on Diwali?

It’s true that back in the time of “Ramayana”, villagers used to use Earthen Lamps as their main source of light during night and these lamps were part of their celebrations too. However, there the most important benefit of the Earthen Lamps that we need not forget:
Earthen Lamps make the air pure! These are lit with ghee or mustard leaf oil. When these are lit, the oil burned with these kills any germs and bacteria, making the air pure and germs free. This was also one of the reasons why people used to fall ill rarely when the use of earthen lamps was in existence. We even lit them during Diwali in this time and age. The Earthen Lamps are healthier and more beneficial than any other electronic sources of light and decoration. These are symbol of our Ancient India that was rich culturally, economically and was the most developed country in the whole world. We shouldn’t forget our heritage because we are the offsprings of the Ancient Bharatiyas. Their blood flows through our veins. If they could make our nation great, we can do it too.

Let’s prioritise India-made Decoration Materials

Our India has taught true meaning of humanity and selfless love to whole world. We are way more behind than our ancestors who made India the most developed. Our ancestors were not backwards, it’s us who are backwards. We can still make India rise in world charts just like it used to be. The change is possible and it starts with us. First of all, let’s support India made products to strengthen our nation economically. During festivals such as Diwali, New Year etc., we should not purchase decoration materials which are not made in India. Let’s give chance to Indian businesses by purchasing the decorative materials made by them and help strengthen our economy. Even the Diyas (Clay Lamps) we purchase, can provide bread and butter to the financially weak. Purchasing their Diyas will bring light to our homes and will save them from starving when they get paid by us. This helps our economy too.

Conclusion

The festival of lights, Diwali should be celebrated just like we should. Diwali brought light in many lives even though there was “no moon day”. This teaches us that no matter how deep evils prevail and how dark the evils are, the light of goodness never fails to find its way. It may seem like the evils are winning, but in reality, the victory always goes to goodness.
