Rural Women are said to be the backbone of the nation. They are at the forefront of agriculture to nutrition, land, food security, and natural resource management. They also do domestic work and care. But still discriminatory social norms continue to constrain women’s decision-making power in rural households. The International day of the rural woman is celebrated every year on October 15. This day is celebrated to divert some attention of government and public towards the plight of rural women. The day is also an effort to take the necessary initiatives to improve their situations.
Table of contents:
1. The situation of rural woman in India 2. The organization that has laid stress on building self-esteem 3. Other remarkable steps taken for the upliftment of rural women 4. The inspiration behind such revolutionary steps 5. Conclusion
The situation of rural woman in India
Our country India attained independence in 1947, but the rural-urban divide, gender discrimination, and the rich-poor division is still a problem to be tackled with. India cannot be called as an all – equal nation until we remove this inequality barrier from society. The plight of rural women in the country is miserable. Rural women are productive workers in India’s economy. They work as farmers as well as provide labor in cities. Rural women in India are less educated than rural men. The families do not provide much support towards educating the girl child due to financial or social reasons. Moreover, lack of security while traveling from home to school, lack of separate toilets for girls in schools, lack of female teachers in schools, are some of the reasons behind the drop-out rate of girls from schools are higher. That is why the Majority of rural women suffer not only from economic poverty but also from ‘knowledge poverty’. Rural Women work for more hours than men and contribute substantially to the family income. From dawn to dusk, these women are silent workers who struggle to complete their household duties. But, many times, she is criticized in the family for not being sincere in her job. She does this day-in and day-out with compromising her desires and interests, but then also in society and family, she does not get the respect which she should get. Not only respect, but women in rural areas also are not provided with the appropriate wages they deserve. When any calamity or disaster or economic downfall occurs, they are the first to suffer.
The organization that has laid stress on building self-esteem
Dera Sacha Sauda is an organization that has contributed a lot to women empowerment. The tough discrimination to girl child, right from the time when she is in the womb to facing hundreds of problems while growing up, Dera Sacha Sauda Sirsa, has initiated revolutionary and dramatic steps that aim at restoring the dignity of women. Dera Sacha Sauda has placed a special emphasis on making women self-dependent. The organization has established special employment training centers. Women here are taught stitching, embroidery, and imparted other vocational skills like that of a beautician, computer training, etc. The special female staff is there to train them.
Knitting, painting embroidery, stitching, etc. are taught to them as per demand. Even necessary equipment is provided to them for free so that after learning, their talent is immediately given an opportunity. Some days back on the function of Mahaparopkar Diwas on 23 September, 23 underprivileged and economically weaker women were provided with free sewing machines by Saint Dr. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan.
Other remarkable steps taken for the upliftment of the rural women
Providing free education to underprivileged girls Dera Sacha Sauda is a big hand behind the success of women in rural areas of northern states like Haryana, Rajasthan, etc. Dera has established various educational institutions. In these institutions, free education is given to all the underprivileged and poor girls. Not only education, they are given all the facilities to excel in sports, arts and other vocational courses.
Respect Motherhood
If we look at the nutritional status of girls and women in India, anemia, and malnutrition are rampant. There is an immediate need, not just to ramp up the calories but also to ensure the right amount of nutrients are taken. · Dera Sacha Sauda provides healthy and nutritious food and medical treatment to extremely poor pregnant women. Thus this organization takes care of all the needs of a pregnant mother. Hence a step forward to protect rural mother and child.
Self Defense
This is the need of the hour that girls and women should be physically strong enough to protect themselves from abuse. Crime against women is increasing day by day especially rural and poor women have to struggle a lot to get justice. So women must be taught self-defense. Dera Sacha Sauda has organized self-defense training centers in various districts including remote areas to teach girls martial arts, taekwondo, etc. so they can live independently and free from any fear.
The inspiration behind such revolutionary steps
Dera Sacha Sauda is an organization that works round the clock for humanity and the welfare of others. This inspiration comes from the chief of Dera, Saint Dr. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan. He insists that girls should not be reared as weaklings. Girls should be raised to be strong.
Conclusion
On this International Day of Rural Women, let us all join hands to improve the condition of the backbone of the nation.
Some days ago, the country was shaken with the case of gang rapes in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Protests and campaigns are still going on for justice. Crime against girl child has taken a brutal shape. The cries for justice with girl children have knocked on every door of the nation, but still, most of the population is dumb over the issues. Is this the women empowerment our leaders are claiming? where girls are not protected and have been denied from the right to live.
International Girl Child Day is celebrated on 11 October annually to create awareness about the importance of empowerment of girl child in society. Every year the day is marked by different themes. It is going to be celebrated this year as “My voice, our equal future”. Thus the day is designated to recognize the girl power and the necessity of gender equality.

The plight of the girl child in India
The rich culture of India worships girls as Devi and encourages the respect and honor of women in society. But with time; the traditions changed, people and their views changed that led to the establishment of male-dominated societies. The condition of women in society became worse and a crime against women became common. In many states of India, the birth of a girl child is not welcomed. Right from her birth, she faces discrimination and oppression at every stage of life. Many girls are deprived of healthcare, education, and growth opportunities. While some struggle and manage to survive and foster new paths but most surrender hopelessly to the depressing fate assigned to them. What more adds to the plight is abuse and exploitation in society so they are kept at home and not sent to schools. The scene has become as if there are butchers that roam on the streets to despoil freedom from the young girls and make their lives hell.
Steps taken by an organization to protect the girl child
Dera Sacha Sauda is an organization that has taken remarkable initiatives to protect the girl child and build a nation free from gender discrimination. Here are some highlights:
Building character
Though the struggle of women empowerment has been taken by various Government and non-government organizations, still there is not an organization that has tried to cut the roots of this discrimination by stopping men too .
Saint Dr.Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan emphasizes on Building high moral characters of boys as well as girls. This is a need of the hour that Boys should learn to respect and honor women whereas girls should learn to live independently and strong. Changing mindsets is changing society. This is what Saint Dr. MSG does by teaching people the importance of a girl child in homes and society. He says that a home without a daughter is not a home. A girl at any age is a mother who cares for the whole family. Further Girls prove to be better children to parents than boys if they are educated and raised properly. Building high moral character is the only way to stop serious crimes like rape, sexual harassment, and molestations.
Stop female feticide
There is no worst crime than killing the girls that are an unborn child. When cases of female feticide increased in the country, Dera Sacha Sauda came forward to make people stop to commit such a crime. Volunteers organized rallies and campaigns in each district to awaken people under the leadership of Saint Dr. MSG. Saint Dr. MSG in His holy satsangs made people realize the value of that unborn life. Guruji makes no bones while scolding those men and women who favor this crime. Sinners are the men who force their wives to abort unborn daughters, those doctors who feel no pain in killing the womb, and the mother who is re aborts her child to impress society. They are written pledge forms to be filled by volunteers never to commit female feticide.
Saint Dr. MSG gave pious shelter to the girls who once faced harsh discrimination by orthodox society.
Those who were to be aborted by their parents or left unsheltered were adopted by Guruji and given a heavenly abode called Shahi Betiyan Basera. Under his grace, these children are raised as strong and independent girls and are provided with every world-class facility they need.
The crown of the lineage
Parents with single girls children don’t have to worry about their lineage after the marriage of their daughter. Under this initiative a single girl child of the family can bring the bridegroom to her house after marriage with the consent of both the families. Guruji also encouraged women to be part of the cremation ceremony of their elders which was strictly prohibited in some Hindu societies. This is also a major step towards gender equality.
Providing Education to empower girls
Under supreme supervision of Guru Saint Dr. MSG, Dera Sacha Sauda has established national and international educational institutions for girls that provide world-class education.. Girls here develop an all-round personality to excel in every field be it sports, art, or science.
The facilities are made available to all the students without any discrimination. Now, this is true equality and the hundreds of medals that the students have bagged from both girls and boys institutions are a testimony to this point. There is a long list of meritorious students every year from these institutions. These educational institutions established under the Shah Satnam Ji group of educational institutions are doing great in every field to turn little children into powerful youth that are the pride of the nation.
Anti Prostitution Drive Shubh Devi
Saint Dr. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan took an initiative to take out the girls who are caught in a vicious circle of predators in sex rackets. According to this initiative, the prostitutes who are willing to come out of prostitution, are provided with great support from taking care of their medical expenses for check-ups to their marriages with eligible bachelors. These are the boys who willingly have pledged to marry ex-prostitutes. They are called Bhakt Yodhas, who chose to renovate the lives of those who were bereaved of their right to live by society, These Ex-prostitutes are named Shubh Devi which means one who brings good fortune. And good luck indeed it is for the families who accept this girl as their daughter-in-law by the holy blessings of Saint Dr. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan. More than a dozen such marriages are held at Dera Sacha Sauda.
Conclusion
On this International Girl, Child Day let us pledge to take every step that leads to a gender-equal free world to live in.

Conclusion
Salutes to such passion for humanity and salutes to the inspiration behind!
It is said that the father is another face of God. Nothing can be compared with the love of a father. But what about the father who gave birth to a messiah of humanity and then sacrificed that child for the welfare of humanity; Well, no word can describe the greatness of that father. All the heads bow in front of him because he dedicated his whole life to do selfless deeds for society. Dera Sacha Sauda celebrates October 5 as Parmarthi Diwas (Welfare Day) in remembrance of Pujya Bapu Sri Maghar Singh Ji; father of Saint Dr. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan. Tons of salutes to such a great personality whose life showed a path for others to live.

A noble person, a devotee, an open-handed, an ideal man like him, is not possible to find in the present era.
An epitome of fatherhood
Saint Dr. MSG Insan was born to honorable Bapu Sardar Maghar Singh Sidhu Ji and Mata Nasib Kaur Ji after a long span of 18 years of marriage. Though the family lacked nothing in terms of land and prosperity only void that ached in their hearts was a child. A revered saint of the village, Baba Trivenidas Ji, prophesized that the couple shall be blessed with a son with extraordinary powers but he will remain with them only for 23 years and then will go for the true path for which he had been incarnated. Triveni das Ji also told that the son would be a reflection of Supreme Creator himself, so must not be taken to any reverential place for prayers. After the incarnation of Saint DR. MSG, Bapuji raised Guruji with utmost love and care. Feeding the mixture of sweets to the Revered Guru Ji with his own hands, to take Him to the fields on his shoulders for the excursion, wherever he went, he accompanied Him, i.e. all the time he would lift young child on his shoulder and this continued even at age of 13 – 14 years. SALUTES to the master and his Honorable father Who showed us the right path of humanity!
It is generally said that “jaisa khaao ann vaisa hoye Mann.” It means what you eat affects what you think. Thus the quality of food is very important for your mental as well as physical health. For ages, the food habits of humans have experienced a lot of variations. The food choices vary from person to person and from place to place. Despite all the variation, we can broadly divide the whole population into vegetarian and non-vegetarians. Though the idea of being vegetarian has been well supported in all religions; still the diet devoid of meat, fish, and eggs is commonly tagged by people as “Grass” and “Boring”. People are largely attracted to non-veg foods. Even some of them consider it as trendy. October 1 is marked as a day to create awareness among people to be vegetarians and is celebrated as world vegetarian day. So let us see why our religions emphasize on being vegetarian.
Table of contents
Myths related to a non-vegetarian diet Is the man at top of all food chains? Was ancient man carnivorous? Is a Non-vegetarian diet more energetic?
Relationship between vegetarianism and spirituality
An organization that urges everyone to be vegetarian.
Conclusion
Myths related to a non-vegetarian diet
There are many myths in society that provoke eating non-veg food
Is the man at top of all food chains?
It has been taught to us that man is a part of the food chain so to maintain the ecosystem, humans eat the flesh of “low ranked animals “. Thus the claim to be at the supreme of every food chain has become a popular justification for killing and eating other animal species. But the truth is that we humans are not at the top of anything. We are part of an interdependent system of life that forms complex ecosystems. We are the only species that can think and choose. We can choose to either participate in saving these natural systems or to destroy them for our taste.
Was ancient man carnivorous?
We have also encountered the statement that primitive man used to hunt and eat the flesh and so are bodies are carnivorous. Is this true? A research was conducted and the following results were found INTESTINAL STRUCTURE It has been found that Human beings and vegetarian animals have longer intestines compared to carnivores which have small intestines. Having large intestines mean a longer time for food digestion. Meat and flesh stay in the intestines for a long time that leads to the accumulation of various toxins and harmful chemicals which turns out as dangerous if you are eating non-veg food. Eating meat means that there is very little chance of quick digestion. These harmful chemicals consist of an array of diseases like cancer, hepatic disorders, heart issues, kidney disorders, piles, constipation, bladder disorders, and many other related issues.
Structure of nails The nails of non-vegetarian animals are exclusively sharp to tear apart the skin of their food animals. But humans don’t have such types of nails. Thus it is another point of distinction.
Teeth and jaw shape The mouth structure, especially the jaws of carnivorous animals are made so that they can chew meat easily and even tear it. Non-vegetarian can move both the jaws, upper and lower. However, vegetarians can move only one jaw. Thus teeth and jaw shape are also a point of difference. So, the complete human body structure favors vegetarian food only. It also proves that ancient man was not carnivorous. Consumption of non-veg food leads to various disorders too.
Is non-vegetarian diet more energetic?
In research studies, it is well documented that a vegetarian diet has enormous health benefits when compared with a non-vegetarian counterpart. It has been found that regular meat-eaters have more chances of chronic disorders. Non-vegetarians are more prone to cancers as compared to veg people. Further Many studies have found lower incidence of heart diseases, cancers, and obesity in those following a vegetarian diet. A vegetarian diet also helps in controlling the weight and blood pressure as it is comparatively lower in fat. Many doctors consider the non-vegetarian items, mainly egg and fish as essential components as they are rich in omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin B12 that are not adequately supplemented by vegetarian foods. But beans, soya, lentils, almonds have more essential proteins and are well known as plant source of OMEGA 3.
Regarding the myth of heavy muscle gain with meat, there are many athletes and celebrities who are pure vegetarians and have a well-sculptured body. There is a simple example to prove who is more energetic. An elephant who eats only grass and plant products is stronger and heavier than a lion who eats flesh. Also, rhinos, horses, etc. are well known for their speed and muscular strength.
Further, if the taste is an issue for an opting non-vegetarian diet, people can have similar flavors with soy and mushrooms and many more plant products. What is the fun to kill just for sake of some tastebuds?
The connection of spirituality with vegetarianism
Indian religions prohibit the eating of flesh. Mercy is directly linked to God. Those who are sympathetic and lovable to the creation of god attain peace. The Hindu texts prohibit the killing of animals. The holy scripture of Islam, the Quran, forbids the “eating of dead animals, blood and flesh.” Further hunting and slaughtering are also prohibited. Religions are misread for one’s own sake. Jesus said that people who have animals’ flesh will become their tombs and also The man who kills will be killed.”
St. Paul, said in his letter to the Romans, “It is good neither to eat flesh nor to drink wine.” (Romans 14:21)
An organization that urges everyone to be vegetarian
Saint Dr. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan urges the public in his holy Satsang to adopt vegetarianism. He in his powerful sermon highlights the above facts and clears all myths. Further, he says that every soul is a creation of God. If you eat animals or any of His, then how could God be graceful for you? He will never be! How would you treat a person who kills your child and can even eat it up? The emotions of anger will be like to kill that guy or take revenge from him? Then what are you doing? You are also doing the same, then how could you expect his grace in your favor? It can’t be!
Guruji urges to eat vegetarian food ONLY. Our religions have a mention of this food as it harnesses the emotions and thoughts to a large extent which are necessary to grow spiritually. These foods are taamsik i.e. creates negative thoughts and feelings. Saint Dr. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan encourages people to become vegetarian. Now if the question is eating God’s creatures, is eating plants a sin? According to our religions, Chetna {soul} lies in every creature on earth that makes it living. Plants prepare food and respire like animals. But the percentage of Chetna in plants is very less as compared to animals. Most of the soul is dead inside them thus they experience very little pain when their parts are broken. Hence eating plant products is no sin as told by our religions.
Conclusion
Thus on this world vegetarianism day let us pledge to be vegetarian.
