Zero discrimination day is celebrated on 1st of March every year since 2014.
Aim
The aim of celebrating this day is clear from it’s name which means to end discrimination on various basis.
Discriminations prevailing
People face various kinds of discriminations in their lives, for example- on the basis of caste, their skin color, their religion, their gender etc.
At many places (unfortunately), people living with HIV are discriminated, isolated socially and thus their life becomes miserable.
What is the solution?
People need to speak up! But no, just speaking up will not help, we need to prove it with our actions. Let’s not discriminate our fellow beings, the people that live near us, let’s accept them without any unfair discrimination.
After all- ‘It takes drop by drop to fill an ocean’.
What organizations are doing?
Many organizations now and then, come up with awareness campaigns to make people rise above man-made discriminations.
One such organization is worth mentioning here that not only accepted every section of the society, treated them all well but also fought for their rights.
This organization is Dera Sacha Sauda located at Sirsa, Haryana in India.
The Dera Chief, Saint Dr. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan has accepted transgender and renamed them as ‘Sukh Dua Smaaj’ meaning the people who always ask for welfare of others from God. Dera also fought the case in the Supreme Court by which transgenders were given the status of ‘third gender’ by our Honorable Supreme court.
He accepted the girls who were forced into prostitution, changed their name to ‘Shubh Devi’, helped them to come into mainstream, adopted them as his daughters, provided medical treatment and found eligible, well educated boys of marriageable age and got them married.
He adopted the girls who were abandoned by their own parents as his own daughters, provided them education in convent schools, made them independent.
He adopted orphan boys and their proper upbringing is going on at Dera.
These are just a few welfare works to name. The total number of such humanitarian deeds is 134.
Zero Discrimination
The spiritual congregation held at Dera Sacha Sauda from time to time has a unique aura, as people from every cast, religion with different skin tones, sit together peacefully and do welfare works together.
Indeed, Dera Sacha Sauda is a place with zero discrimination!
